Blogging Advice For Parents

Filed Under (Blogging Advice) by Randy Bragg

The world has changed for our kids today as the Internet has given them the opportunity to express themselves in the blogging world platform. The days of having three TV stations, and parents telling them to go out and play, because that was the only entertainment they had, is over. They found a way to reach out to the world in many realms in the technological world. For the child who has the interest in expanding his/her horizons in the Blogging forum, here are some safety tips for the parents.

  • Establish rules for online use with your kids and be diligent.
  • Screen what your kids plan to post before they post it. Seemingly innocuous information, such as a school mascot and town photo, could be put together to reveal where the author goes to school.
  • Ask yourself (and instruct your kids to do the same) if you are you comfortable showing any of the content to a stranger. If in doubt, have them take it out.

  • Evaluate the blogging serviceand find out if it offers private, password-protected blogs.

  • Save the Web address of your child’s blog and review it on a regular basis.

  • Check out other blogs to find positive examples for your kids to emulate.

Guiding The Young Blogger Mind

Never offer any personal information including your last name, contact information, home address, phone numbers, school’s name, e-mail address, last names of friends or relatives, instant messaging names, age, or birth date.
Never post provocative pictures of yourself or anyone else, and be sure any images you provide do not reveal any of the previously mentioned information. Always remember to look at the background of a picture too.
Assume what you publish on the Web is permanent. Anyone on the Internet can easily print out a blog or save it to a computer.
Use blogging provider sites with clearly stated terms of use, and make sure they can protect the actual blogs, not just the user accounts, with password protection. (Even so, it’s better to assume anyone can see it).
Avoid trying to “outdo” or compete with other bloggers.

Keep blogs positive and don’t use them for slander or to attack others.

In Case of Emergency

Filed Under (Family, Talk) by Randy Bragg

We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn’t know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this ” ICE” (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of “ICE” is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you n eed to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name “ICE” ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones w ith patients, but they didn’t know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dia l ing the number you have stored as “ICE”.
Please forward this. It won’t take too many “forwards” before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one’s mind at rest.

For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

A great idea that will make a difference!

Let’s spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today!

Credit Problems?

Filed Under (Credit Score Help) by Randy Bragg

Have you found yourself paying all your bills and finding that you have little money left over? Don’t worry your not alone. We find ourselves buying what we need, paying all our bills, and still struggling to get by. What happens when you get behind on bills because of a family emergency, this is one reason you might have bill collectors calling you. This is what happened to me, and I found my way out with some direction from friends and family. Figure out how much you owe on all your bills.

  Payoff Your Bills

        1. Put as much as can in to them each paycheck.
        2. Get one loan to pay them off.
        3. Cut up the credit cards.
        4. Make a budget, and stick by it.
        5. Cut back on buying things that are wants and not needs.

  Get A Credit Report

        1. Find out what your score is.
        2. Find out who wants to collect from you.
        3. Call your creditors and let them know your plan.

  Results

        1. You have paid your debts, and now you want your credit score to be better
        2. Take a secured loan out for one thousand dollars.
        3. Pay on the loan for a year.
        4. Take out another loan for fifteen hundred dollars, this time not secured.

Normally what happens when you take out the secured loan and pay it off is you gain trust with your bank.

   Three Years Later

       1. It is time to get another credit report.
       2. After paying off the bills, and paying off your loans, it’s time to smile.

Your hard work will pay off with better credit scores . No it’s not going to be easy, but you can do it and when you do, email me with some of your success stories and I will put them on my site.

Bloggers Calling Card

Filed Under (Blogging Advice, Make Money Online) by Randy Bragg

To Be Or Not To Be John Chow

Does it seem like anytime a new bloging  blogging tool comes out that everyone runs out to get it for their site? Well if John Chow uses it than it must be a tool that will surely bring me some traffic, this is me laughing at anything John Chow does, if you didn’t notice the sarcasm in my writing. Let’s get down to business.

Entrecard

If you want to go to someones site and leave something behind, you can now. Entrecard allows you to upload a 120×120 image and add a widget to your site that will allow others to leave there image and allow you to leave yours on theirs. You pay for this advertising with Entrecard Credits, that you earn for free by networking (a.k.a. visiting blogs and dropping your card for other bloggers).
Promote Blog
When you click on the drop yours button it will drop your entrecard image that you set up with them. You can change the image anytime and it will still lead to your site.

Advertising On Someone Elses Entrecard

To advertise on someone elses Entrecard you will have to pay them Entrecard credits. What are credits you might ask? Credits is Entrecards way of having a type of currency. You will be earning credit everytime you have someone drop a card into your Entrecard slot or you drop into their Entrecard slot. When someone wants to drop it you will have to approve or deny if it gets seen. Lets get something clear though, to get your Entrecard on someones site you have to pay the credits. It will not get seen if you don’t pay.

Getting The Widget

Grab the code and put it where you want people to see it. They make it to easy, and if you don’t put it on your blog they will know, they have technology that looks to see if it’s there.

My Take

I will give you my take when I see how much traffic comes because of it…

Search Engine Optimization Understanding

Filed Under (Blogging Advice) by Randy Bragg

Instant Code is done with Voice Of Bragg, and I must say I am very pleased. After they emailed me I reply asking the question on the importance of good code, here are some examples of his reply.

 SEO Fix It Men

Semantic Benefits:

1. Semantic code is shorter and so downloads faster.

2. Semantic code makes site updates easier because you can apply design style to headings across an entire site instead of on a per page basis.

3. Semantic code is easier for people to understand too so if a new web designer picks up the code they can learn it much faster.

4. Because semantic code does not contain design elements it is possible to change the look and feel of your site without recoding all of the HTML .

Once again, because design is held separately from your content, semantic code allows anybody to add or edit pages without having to have a good eye for design. You simply describe the content and the cascading style sheet defines what that content looks like.

Seems my site had some nasty code problems. The code seems much smoother and works well with different explorers. They have reasonable prices, they need to work on the time spent on the code, it took them about six days to finish. My code was jacked, but a quote is a quote, if you say your going to have it done with in twenty to forty eight hours than it has to be done then. All is well though, they did a good job.
