Where Is My Style.CSS File
If you don’t have some ftp software, you need to get some. The software will allow you to transfer data easier than using your site server. Go to CNET.com for ftp software, as evaluation basis, so if you like the software, go buy it. After you get it go to your site’s theme and copy the style.css file, double click on it and away you go.
Software Used To Edit Style.CSS
The program I used to edit my format of my site is Microsoft Development Environment. Copy and paste the style.css file to your computer and double click on it. If you don’t have the software you can go find some freeware at CNET.com.
What Am I Looking At
After opening the file you will notice that there is a list of HTML tags, the first one is an asterisk, and this is going to give you some of the functionality for the main page, like changing the colors of you background in the sidebar. As you go down you will notice that there are tags to click on for the rest of the site. Go through each one and see what’s inside. You have a lot of power at your finger tips, so be careful.
How Do I Get It Back In My Site
Copy and paste the file and put it back in to the Themes category. I suggest before you start to tweak you style.css file that you back it up first. If you mess your site up you can restore it with the back up file, as I had to do at least ten times. It will ask you if you want to replace the existing file, say yes and in she goes. Go see what changes you have made.

So here is the scoop, I have looked at other sites to try to see how they are set up and if it works well to supply easy access and navigation through their site. One site has a forum set up that uses http://www.simplemachines.org/index.php. You have to follow the directions very close, after I set it up I realized that I could not log in to my site. Two days later and researching my files, I still was not seeing it. Finally today I read the error message that said that my config-php file might have a different password for my SQL server. Uploading the file to my computer I opened it up and low and behold, the password that I origanly set was different than the one I set in the forum. After replacing the old password with the new, I was back in my site. During the process of trying to get back in I set up my backup and took off the forum files, so I lost ten days of posts. Live and learn.
So on with the show….
