Computer Wellness Tips

There has been many times where I would load some software that eventually became out dated or was just put on for trial purposes. When going to different sites to do research and sometimes just to kill time, sites have maleware that gets introduced into your computer. Through trial and error I have put together a list of software that will keep you running smoothly.

Norton Antivirus - protects your computer from Viruses & Spyware.

Ad-Aware - software program for blocking and removing spyware, adware, and malicious content.

Registry Mechanic -improve PC performance & Fix Registry Errors.

They can all be downloaded at http://www.cnet.com . If there comes a point when you have done everything but the damage can not be fixed then the next step is a system restore.

                                                 For Windows XP Users

1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system checkpoint in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next. A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page appears.
7. Click OK. The old saying when in doubt reboot, doesn’t always take away the problem. Neither does kissing your monitor to see if it will make the problem go away like when my son comes and says “Dad I hurt myself and I say Where, let me kiss it,” and he smiles, I hug him, and he runs off to play.
